We took our honeymoon at Glen Acres Bed & Breakfast in West Port, Washington on December 6, 1996. At around three a.m., I was awakened by the sound of children. Not realizing it was only three in the morning, I just thought that some parents were not watching their children. They were laughing and giggling, running up and down the hallways and up and down the stairs. I tried to wake my husband, but after a bit too much celebrating, he was out. You might be thinking that I'd had too much to drink as well, and you could be right, except for the fact that I had quit drinking ten months before our wedding. The next morning when we were asked by the proprietor how our stay was and how we'd slept, I told her that the rooms were lovely and everything had been great except for the children running around all night. I asked her why they were allowed to do this and if she might have a chat with the parents. She said, "I would, ma'am, but there are not any children on the property. In fact, until tomorrow night, the two of you are the only ones staying here." When she said this, the hair stood straight up on my arms. The following night I did not get a bit of sleep because it started all over again. I tried to wake my husband. His sleepy response was, "Oh, well, let them have some fun and try to go back to sleep." I laid there for what seemed forever until the noise ended just as it has begun. |
