My Grandmother's Sign to Me

By: Michelle

My grandmother passed on in January. It was a surprise to everyone. She had been in the hospital for a week and they couldn't find anything wrong, so they sent her home. She died in her sleep that night.

My aunt called the next morning. I was in shock. I didn't cry or mourn. I just couldn't believe it was real.

That night, when I went to sleep, I had a dream of her. All she spoke was, "I am sorry. I was just too hot and had to go." I thought it strange, but then I remembered when my grandfather died, he came to me when I was giving birth to my son. They say I saw him because of my medication, but I know he was there to see my baby.

Anyway, I told my aunt about the dream. She told me when they found my grandmother, she had kicked the covers from herself as if she'd gotten too hot. My grandma never slept without a blanket as she kept it cold at her house.

I feel she let me know in my dream that she was okay. Every once in awhile, when I am down, I can smell her and my grandpa cheers me up. Now I have two angels watching me and waiting for me on the other side.
