The Shower Ghost

By Joni Powers of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin

We have moved into an old house within the city limits. We have five children and one bathroom, so it is a room that is used a lot.

One morning, I was sitting at the kitchen table reading the paper and my fifteen year old daughter was in the shower. When the door opened, there was a shuffling sound and I turned to ask her what had happened. When I turned, I saw a blonde haired boy wearing faded jeans and a striped t-shirt walk past me. My daughter said that the noise I'd heard came from her dropping her towel. I thought the boy was my younger son, Christopher, but when I turned back, the boy was gone. I called out my son's name and he was still sleeping in his bed.

I didn't want to say anything to my daughter to scare her, so I didn't. After a few minutes had passed, she came back to me and said that she didn't drop her towel, but that she'd felt someone had walked past her as she was leaving the bathroom. I then told her what I had seen and she was not scared, but felt relieved that maybe what she'd thought had happened was really true.

Since that time, we have things happen on a weekly basis. Missing items are found on my older son's bed, whispers in the middle of the night, footsteps on the stairs are heard nightly, lights and radios are turned off at night in the upstairs, and in the morning, they are back on.

My kids do not like to sleep upstairs even though we have a bedroom for each child. They all end up on the living room floor. I've tried to tell them that no one has hurt us, but they are still a bit spooked.
