Goodbye to you little one with eyes oh so blue, |
I know we must part, though I'm broken in two. |
This thing that I must do for the best I am told, |
But who'll help me forget, blue eyes, hair of gold. |
| |
Goodbye to you, little one, your future is fine, |
Another will love you, although you are mine. |
They'll give you the world, as they need you so, |
But still in my heart, I don't want to let you go. |
| |
The time that I had you, was so very short, |
But the thrill when I held you, could never be bought. |
Your sweet little face I still see, I just can't forget, |
And the ache in my heart, comes from regret. |
| |
Regret that I can't keep my sweet, little love, |
Though you were sent from the Heaven's above. |
But God in His wisdom I'm sure must agree, |
That tragedies like this, just have to be. |
| |
He knew of another, who shed many a tear, |
For the sweet word "Mommy", they never would hear. |
He lent you to me, for such a short while, |
Then gave you to her, so now she can smile. |
| |
But I'll never forget, I know this is true, |
A part of my heart, will stay always with you. |
Time will go by, and I will grow old, |
I'll love you my little one, blue eyes, hair of gold. |
