     So many things have happened this year for The Night Watchman and myself - so many changes. To those who have been avid followers of this website, it may have seemed as though we had abandoned it, but this is far from the case.
     The Night Watchman Chronicles has been dear to my heart since the day I purchased the server and made its first page in 2004. Back then, it resembled a bumblebee - all black and yellow - and, truly, was hideous, but as I learned the Frontpage system, I was able to create much more suitable pages. The website has had many changes in the last five years. To date, it has over 600 pages of material.
     At the beginning of this year, with all that was available to anyone who chose to come to The Night Watchman Chronicles, we decided to take a break and begin planning life outside the internet for a bit. I still came back in June and put a new newspaper issue up and updated the homepage, but that was the last change I made.
     As of January of 2009, plans began for a metaphysical store in Marshalltown, Iowa. It took a lot of back breaking work as the store is now based in an old store room in the basement of an established fur business right off of Main Street and looks wonderful. It took nearly four months to get it all together and to gain enough money to be able to make the improvements, but we finally opened in the middle of April.
     In the meantime, The Night Watchman had four jobs. One at a grocery store, one teaching student guitar in the other area of the basement where we were establishing the shop, DJ gigs and a band gig. All this while sharing our home with seven other family members. Even now, our household contains ten people (including the two of us), but there is light at the end of the tunnel (smile).
     The store has been slow to get started as Marshalltown is not the usual town where one would think a metaphysical shop would be found. So often when people have come in, I've heard the words, "I can't believe you're here in Marshalltown!" Nevertheless, the business is growing and we are very proud to be able to offer this service to those who are looking for enlightenment of any kind.
     Since opening the shop, we've met some wonderful people. It's not unusual on any given day to have three or four people sitting with me at a table in the shop, drinking coffee, and sharing viewpoints. They have all given us the best compliment that any shop owner could ask for. They have said that it is such a comfortable place to be that they just don't like to leave. Who could ask for more than this?
     I will be doing better where The Night Watchman Chronicles is concerned, but I must ask everyone to be patient with me. I am the only one who runs this website and I must make a living as well. So, if the newspaper, which is supposed to be bi-monthly, is late, don't give up on me. I will get it to you, but I also could use more people willing to share their opinions and stories. There is no judgment on this website, so I ask that you not be afraid to share as there are many who would love to hear your stories. I really want this website to feel like home to everyone who comes to visit it.
     Despite how busy we are, we (meaning those people who have become like extended family at the shop, Angie Christie from England, and us) have decided to start a paranormal group which we are calling PlaSMA. Many of you may be groaning over the idea of "yet another paranormal group" but, I assure you, we have many different ideas for what PlaSMA will stand for.

     I cannot, at this time, go into great detail on this as we are just getting started and there is much to plan, but we believe that what we have up our sleeves will be unique and quite different from what you may have seen in paranormal groups thus far. We have a great many theories to test and, though the investigations will be serious ones, we will also have fun in our discoveries.
     If you have gotten to know us from The Night Watchman Chronicles as we hope you have, you will know that I have always put my best effort forth to anyone who has visited this website. Not many websites can say they have over 600 pages of material to share and it's still growing. Once I create the pages for PlaSMA, which will be attached to The Night Watchman Chronicles, I will have a link from the homepage so that you can see exactly what we are up to.
     Angie Christie, though she is in England, was a given when thinking about members of the group. She has been a dear friend to us for many years now and we know and trust the person she is - her integrity, honesty and love know no bounds. We will be bringing her over by webcam to the investigations as we have done for previous workshops where she has done incredible readings for those who have attended. We were so very thankful when she did not hesitate to join with us and we know that she will bring amazing things to all we have planned.
     Since things are about to get even busier, I wanted to get this new issue of Night Whispers out to you. It has been many months and I thought about it often, but was just unable to create the time until now. I do hope you have been enjoying it as much as I always enjoy creating it - sharing the stories and experiences of others and our own too.
     As always, suggestions for bettering the website are ALWAYS welcome as well! What I have learned about website creation has been self-learned over these five years, but it is still far from perfect. What I hope it does accomplish is easy navigation, logical navigation and much varied information. If, at times, you see an article in Night Whispers that is repeated elsewhere on the site, this is intentional as I am trying to incorporate all of the articles, a little at a time, into this newspaper so that the articles page can be eliminated. As always, these newspaper issues can be found in the newspaper archives under the "viewpoints" link.
     So, enough jibber jabber from me for now and it's time for some action! Stay tuned over the next several months to see what PlaSMA is doing. We're hoping to offer you some unique ways of enjoying what we have planned, so if anyone out there has any ideas, please let us know through email. We'd love to hear from you!
