The King's Head Public House GREAT CORNARD, SUDBURY ENGLAND

In February, 2006, whilst out walking with a friend of mine named Linda, she happened to mention that the public house called The King's Head in the village of Great Cornard, near Sudbury, Suffolk may be haunted. She also mentioned to me that her husband, John, had been chatting to the landlord about mediums going in and trying to see if they could pick up any unusual activity. This interested me very much. The next time John was in the pub, he mentioned me, and my interest in visiting there, to the landlord. The landlord said that he would be very pleased for me to come. I rang him and we arranged for myself and my friend, Linda, to go on the 9th of March at 1 p.m. whilst the pub was closed. Whilst I was speaking to the landlord on the phone to arrange my visit, I became very cold and so did he. I was picking up children in the upstairs rooms and he said to me that I was "spot on." A previous landlady had actually heard them downstairs in the bar. Also on the phone, I gave him the website of The Night Watchman Chronicles which I found out later he thoroughly enjoyed. Firstly, on the 9th of March, I took a photograph of the outside of this ancient public house whilst Linda was standing in front of the building (seen above). We were cordially met by Adie, the landlord, who also introduced us to Kathy, his friend, who lived across the road in a very old row of cottages. She was a very nice person. Adie made Linda, Kathy and myself a much welcomed cup of tea and we talked about the happenings that had been experienced over the time Adie had been there. The King's Head is still a mystery as to its age as the brewery records only date back to the 1930's. There were additions to the back in Edwardian times and many alterations to the inside over the many, many years of its life. We hope to find this out very soon. Someone must have the deeds. I brought out my camera and was shooting in different places all over the building. Adie had a lovely cat, one of a few there, and his name was Flea! He was very affectionate and very quiet. Adie told me the spots that he had found a coldness, so I particularly snapped the parts he mentioned. During my visit, I wanted to go down the cellar where the barrels were kept. We ventured down there and Adie told me that Orbs had been seen near the barrels at another time. He took a picture of me with his little digital camera and immediately he saw several Orbs at my feet.
I was drawn to the very old steps that the draymen used to drop down the barrels. These steps were ancient. I snapped them, and because my camera is an aged Canon Sureshot, about 22 years old, it was using 35mm film that had to be developed in the old way, so I didn't know if I had anything yet. BUT Adie's camera had a definite Orb on the steps.

Suddenly, Flea, the black cat who refused to come down into the basement with us, started to yell and cry in a startling way. I went to the steps and tried to reassure the little cat, but until we went back up into the bar again, he didn't stop yelling.
Adie once saw a pair of legs in the cellar. I must say that I did not feel any bad vibrations and felt cold when spirit were near me and warm when they were not. Seated again in the little snug, Flea suddenly jumped onto the windowsill and started banging the window with his paw whilst standing on his hind legs. He was playing with something we could not see and we were informed that they had never known him to do this before. Adie, the landlord is psychic. I was amazed at his understanding of spirit and his willingness to talk to me about happenings there. For example, one night a previous bar maid was standing near the bar and suddenly glasses crashed down and shattered around her. Nobody was near the glasses at the time. Adie also said he saw a man in his bedroom, standing in one corner, then he disappeared. He said if he had to describe him to police, as after a crime, he would not have been able to. There is a car park out the back of the pub which now houses a wooden building that is used for boxing. Once there were stables at the back where carriages used to be dropped off. An actual coach and horses was seen once by someone at the pub. I found the upstairs light and airy. One bedroom that Adie had converted to a dining room has a very heavy pine table. Adie told me that this table actually moved several inches. He also showed us video film of several people with their hands on a table in the bar, where we were seated, and the table was tipping about 45 degrees. Whilst there, I got the name Dickon very clearly and saw, in my psychic eye, a fair haired boy of about 14 with an old fashioned jerkin over his shirt. He, I felt strongly, worked in the pub a very long time ago. A lady was seen by me also and when I described her to Kathy, she said she had seen her in the room we were in.

Another feeling I got strongly was of a wheelchair next to my seat. When I inquired if anyone had brought in a wheelchair, Adie answered to the affirmative. The chair was there one night at Christmas last and since then, the occupant - a gentleman - had passed into spirit. He was a member of the Buffs. I picked up the name Barney and Adie looked surprised. Barney was a cat, the pride and joy of somebody he knew there, and had gotten run over on the busy road outside sometime past. Another man I picked up that still visited the pub had a dark mustache and hair. Adie went away and came back with a picture of several men in a team of sport. There, seated in the front row, right in the middle, was the man I saw. The picture was taken circa 1937. Suddenly, a black and white dog of medium build, walked toward the settle near me. Another photo was brought out. The pub used to have a black and white collie and it was there, in the photo, taken many years ago with the then landlord and landlady. A note here. A previous landlady had heard children in the bar and over here that is not allowed. She mentioned it to somebody and they informed her that no children were there. She definitely heard them. The King's Head had many old beams which I adore. I am always at home in old buildings, and around this area and throughout the British Isles, are many, many very ancient houses and pubs. Where Adie keeps his paint tins, etc. now, the fireplace used by a bygone blacksmith can still be seen. What was really amazing about our visit was the amount of Orbs in the building. Spirit was very strong there. As a medium, one has to hope for the best whilst visiting a building and hope against hope that spirit will "come out to play." You cannot make spirit appear to your tune. They will come only if they want to. A gentleman from WWI made himself known also to me. He died at Ypres and Adie did remember someone who he was told was mustard gassed. I did not want to outstay our welcome to this fascinating building, so reluctantly, Linda and I thanked Adie and Kathy for being so hospitable and made our departure. Adie was very interested in The Night Watchman Chronicles and has sent over some marvelous Orbs. Spirit was very active that day, but I felt very happy in their presence. We feel that The King's Head was maybe built in the 16th century. The part we were seated in was Georgian. The pub is a hotchpotch of different eras. The present landlord and custodian of the building, Adie, we found to be very welcoming and friendly. I have been told that I am welcome to come back anytime.
