Keep in mind that even the most seasoned investigators have been fooled at some point, so don't feel ashamed if you get excited over something you've found, then later discover a perfectly logical explanation for it. It's happened to us all. The Night Watchman and I have had our share of "sure things" that have turned out to have perfectly natural explanations, but three of these experiences stand out more than the others. The first of these was captured on a video camera with super night shot. It showed strange green elongated spiny flying things. We thought we'd found something really unique that we had not seen before and were really excited. However, being thorough, The Night Watchman spoke to an entomologist (bug specialist) and they determined that these were, indeed, bugs that came out early in the spring hatching from a fresh water source. The second experience was at the gravestone of Anna Wiese. Only the video camera with the super night shot was used that night. While it was filming, we walked around with the tape recorders to attempt to get sound. Upon returning home and viewing the video footage, it appeared that we had captured a hand and arm coming out of the ground and going across another object, then back into the ground. It was AMAZING!!! We played it over and over again. It's a good thing we did because we suddenly realized that it had gone into the base of the gravestone and seemed to have left a portion behind and sticking out. The camera had been pointed at one specific spot and throughout the beginning of viewing, we noticed a leaf, but what we didn't notice right away was the leaf's small movements with momentary gusts of wind. |
The Night Watchman and I both thought about the leaf at the same time. We backtracked the footage, and sure enough, we watched the leaf slowly blow, then go up and over the object in its path and come to rest against the base of the gravestone. Even though we had determined the origin, we were still amazed that it looked like a spirit arm and hand coming out of the ground and going into the gravestone. The third was just a random shooting with my video camera through the town where we live. The camera hadn't worked properly earlier, so I shot the main street as The Night Watchman drove. It was about a three minute segment of film. At home, I checked to see if I had recorded anything as I had thought the camera was on the blink. It did record, however, and as I watched it play, I became very excited as I saw what appeared to be a HUGE orb by one of the houses in the footage. I immediately handed the camera over to The Night Watchman for his opinion. He saw it too and became quite excited. A bit later, we hopped in the car and drove the same street to see if there was something at that location that could explain the huge white orb we had filmed. Sure enough, at the exact spot where the orb had been in the film was the silver back of a stop sign. It had shown up white and hovering on the camera footage. Being thorough is a very good thing. Our way of doing things is to eliminate the possibilities one by one as an explanation for what we have filmed or recorded. After doing this, if all we can do is shrug our shoulders, then we know that we have come up with no logical explanation. At that time, and only at that time, do we place the video tape or recording in our special file of unexplained phenomena.

Sometimes it will take us days of mulling it over in our heads and trying to discredit what we have... sometimes weeks. Other times, we put it away and go back to it at a later date, but if after all this, nothing sparks that can definitely show a logical explanation, we believe. Somehow, we were able to capture an amazing anomaly that we cannot explain. You can do it too. Just don't let the experts tell you that you can't. It's worth the time. Every bit of unexplained evidence brings us all one step closer to solving the mystery behind many unexplained events. And... who knows? Maybe you will be the one to solve one of those mysteries.
