EXPECTATIONS FROM A MEDIUM'S POINT OF VIEW

Dear readers of The Night Watchman Chronicles magazine... Angie here. Today I was asked a question about what people I come in contact with expect from a medium. This is rather a difficult subject as everyone is different in their thoughts and expectations.

Sometimes I long to be all things to all people but, being human, I cannot be. Take for example when I am working face to face with a client who needs, and craves, for answers. I have to tell them at the very beginning that this is not always possible. If I could answer all their hopes and dreams of always getting their Loved Ones through, I would be very, very famous. But, I have never heard of a single medium who can do this 100% of the time.

I have been extremely fortunate in the people I come into contact with in a professional way, as a Spiritualist Medium, as they have been kind and understanding and tell me they appreciate my candidness. Once the understanding and rapport with a person is cemented with me in this way, a more relaxed reading ensues.

But, upon saying this to you all, there are other things a medium and client have to take into consideration. That is, does the Loved One they crave want to come through? I wish I could wave a magic wand and say this is so, but I have to be guided by my guides in the Spirit World. Don't get me wrong here. Sometimes they come through very quickly and I have had a lot of successes over the years of working for Spirit. But, do you realize something else?

When a person needs a certain Loved One to come through, they can block me and this has happened many times. When, at the end of the reading I ask them if they have a question for me, some automatically say, "Well, I was hoping my Mum/Dad/Husband, etc. would have been here." I have to explain that by fixing on just one Loved One over in Spirit, it has blocked me from them. This is a difficult thing for somebody new to my way of working to understand, so I have to gently tell them that this is what happens.

I have had a lot of wonderful people who write to my Question and Answer page who have needed guidance and help with their questions. It is not possible for me to be able to answer some of them, especially when they say, "Can you tell me why they went over?" I sometimes feel like the Compost Heap in Fraggle Rock! (smile) Although I do my very, very, best for people seeking help and answers, sometimes I have to disappoint them because, being me, I will NEVER make up an answer to make myself feel good. If Spirit does not show me or tell me, then I have to disappoint the Loved One still on earth.

I absolutely love being in front of an audience giving clairvoyance and taking Sunday services in the Spiritualist Churches and, being me, I am a bit of a joker which causes lots of laughter. Spirit love us to laugh and it raises the vibrations, therefore, helping me in getting Spirit messages through to their Loved Ones on earth.

This works also in a one to one situation, but I am very sensitive to atmosphere and if I have a very unhappy person with me, I do sometimes have a struggle to get through to the person. All they see is their grief and this can hold back their Loved One in Spirit because that Spirit will be close to that person and cannot go on in their new life.

A person who comes to me with no expectations and a smile can work wonders to the reading and, the more laughter, the better the Spirit comes through to them. If we can all just remember one thing - laughter can work wonders.

Also, I meet people who, if they are given messages to help them from their Loved Ones in Spirit, they ignore this and still cannot see through the grief. This makes me want to weep for them as not only are they not wanting to give up their grief, they cannot see what their Loved One is suffering for them over in the Spirit World. We have to let them go as it was their time, and realize that they love us just as much as they always did on earth.

There are others who are upset because they parted without making up a quarrel and it plays on the mind that they will never have the opportunity to tell their Loved One how sorry they are. Spirit can hear and see us very well, thank you, so they want the person on earth to stop thinking bad thoughts, but to say I am sorry we parted badly because, believe me, when the Loved One gets to Spirit, they know exactly the thoughts of those left on earth.

As the Spiritualist Medium for The Night Watchman website, I will do all I possibly can to help as many of you as possible if asked, but this will not always be possible. It hurts me to have to say, "Sorry, but it's not possible for me to answer that question" as the person asking me a difficult question just has too many high hopes that I can solve their worry for them.

When I started this work over 20 years ago as a working medium, I gave my promise, to myself and my guides, "I will work for Spirit to the best of my ability, but I will never knowingly take advantage of anyone to make myself feel important in their eyes, or the eyes of Spirit." All a medium can ask is to be trusted and I pray that I am trusted.
