IX. Relationship Development

Due to having limited income when we first began investigating, and even now, we do not have many options as to where we might investigate. Travel to anywhere far away is few and far between due to other obligations, however, this has proven to be an advantage.

We chose the Hazel Green Cemetery which wasn’t too far from where we lived at the time and had the legend of the woman in the rocking chair. Our first and second investigations were a complete bust. We captured nothing on video, camera or recorder. It was very disappointing, but the bug had bitten us and we HAD to go back to try again.

Our third time back, we captured two voices, a young girl and an older girl, playing peek-a-boo with one another. At this point, we had stopped taking photos at all as we could not afford to get the film developed and we didn’t own a digital camera, so all of our faith lay in the video cameras and the tape recorder.

Listen to this EVP HERE

After that first EVP of peek-a-boos, every visit began yielding exciting results. We had EVP’s on tape and on the video cameras AND we did capture, as The Night Watchman shared in Chapter II, the old woman rocking in the rocking chair with an added bonus of a white spectral image to the right and back from the gazebo at the same time.

This began making us think that there might be something to going to the same place more than once or twice. Maybe, by going regularly, we could develop a relationship with whatever or whoever was there and get better photos and better EVP’s.

We traveled the internet checking out different paranormal sites, and it seemed that most investigators would choose a location, go there once or twice, then move on to somewhere else. Results might have been a few good photos and maybe an EVP, but we wondered what they would get if they continued regularly at that location. We really wanted to test our relationship theory further.

Finally, our opportunity came. We had moved, gotten better jobs and started the website. Though money was still tight, and time even tighter, we decided to conduct a 30-day investigation for the website.

Each evening for 30 days, with an occasional missed evening due to work obligations, we went to the Hillside Cemetery in State Center from 8 p.m. to 8:10 p.m. We had been to this cemetery on a few other occasions with absolutely no results, so it was perfect for testing our theory. We chose a small area ahead of time and followed a set routine for the entire 30 days in that area. Our equipment consisted of our digital camera, the mini disc recorder, the IR thermometer and the gauss meter.

Having a few other questions concerning necessary equipment, weather, lunar activity, and the solar x-rays and geomagnetic field found on NOAA, we kept track of all of these areas each evening too.

We took 18 photos in sets of three at identical locations in our small area each night. Results were posted nightly on the website.

After 30 days, we made charts to compare data. These charts consisted of the day/date, temperature, wind, humidity, solar x-ray, geomagnetic field, lunar phase, and of course, what we had gotten for photos, sound and equipment readings.

See these charts HERE

We went through the photos and only used “excellent” photos in our results. Excellent photos were ones that were bright and clear and where there was no doubt that it was really “something.”

We were not at all surprised that the gauss meter never once made a peep as it has done nothing on any other investigations. The IR thermometer gave readings, but nothing unusual and nothing that we could put together to say that was why we had this EVP or that photo.

In fact, with the collection of all the data, there was nothing showing any particular reason that we had excellent photos one night and nothing the next. In other words, temperature didn’t matter, solar x-rays and the geomagnetic field didn’t matter, the moon phase didn’t matter, well, you get the picture. What we did notice, however, was that there were more photos and EVP’s in the last ten days we were there.
