X. Most Common Film Captures

PAGE THREE

Obviously there will be times when you are not investigating where you will take only one photo instead of sets of three such as holiday celebrations, family reunions, and birthday parties. In this case, if something odd shows up, hopefully you will have already begun to build up your strange anomaly photo library, practiced looking at the “whole” photo, spotting specific characteristics and considering all possible sources to allow you to make a good decision on what you’ve captured.

Rule of thumb for us: If, after taking all things into consideration, we still say, “Hmm… I just don’t know,” then we do not put that picture in our special folder or on our site. You may have a folder for these types of photos too, but keep in mind that eventually you’ll have to clean out your computer to make room for more “for sure” photos.

Last in this section is NOT a common capture, but we felt it was necessary to touch on.

APPARITIONS. Many who go out ghost hunting get very discouraged that all they seem to be getting at the places they investigate are Orbs, ectoplasms and shadows. All of us would love to get a photo of a full bodied apparition, but it doesn’t happen very often, it seems.

Some investigators have spent years taking photos and have never caught an actual apparition and another investigator might get one on their first time out. There are no laws governing this, nor any specific way in which to assure that you will get this kind of photo. Some say it is just the luck of the draw.

Oftentimes, we will specifically ask the spirits to show up brightly if they can, or to form themselves as they may have been while living, if it’s possible. The brightness has worked when it came to Orbs specifically, but not with apparitions as yet. Of course, your wording should be carefully chosen so that they fully understand your request. If you would like them to appear in full human form for a photo, then say so. If you are capturing Orbs and would like them to appear brighter in your photos, then request exactly that. Communication is very important in all areas of life and should not be treated any differently when investigating.

If you do not get an apparition right away on film while investigating, don’t get discouraged. It doesn’t mean it will never happen. However, value what you are capturing. We all can learn a great deal from one another in the paranormal field if we are just willing to share and take the time to assess what is truly happening and what we are being privy to capturing on film.
