The General Lewis Inn & Restaurant is a family owned, 25 room, magnificent piece of history. Opened in 1829, the Inn was built in the tradition of the style of the early settlers and attached to the 1839 Withrow House which now holds the restaurant on the first floor and three of the finest Inn rooms on the second floor. The backyard of The General Lewis Inn held artillery during the 1862 Civil War Battle and is surrounded by Civil War and Revolutionary history. Enjoy the spectacular atmosphere of the Alleghany Mountains, a wide variety of cultural and outdoor activities, relax with a glass of wine in the living room before dinner, or enjoy taking a trip into the past down Memory Hall. The General Lewis Inn offers modern amenities mixed with an amazing glimpse of life from early American history.
