Thornewood Castle is an English Tudor/Gothic mansion, and is one of the few private castles within the United States. Construction on this extraordinary castle began in 1908 and was completed in 1911. In fact, you may recall having seen Thornewood Castle right in your own living room. Thornewood Castle was chosen by ABC for Stephen King's movie, "Rose Red" which aired in 2002. As an Inn, Thornewood Castle boasts 8 amazing rooms with many modern amenities such as hot tubs, Jacuzzis, microwaves, refrigerators and coffee pots , but still offers an amazing step back in time with original stained glass windows and inserts, original soaking tub in some rooms, and a decorative flair and elegance that will not be found elsewhere. Incredible views of the gardens, courtyard, and lake can be seen from most rooms. Breakfast can be served to guests in their rooms or can be taken in the castle dining room. Oh, and don't forget the Candlelight Castle Mystery Tour offered at certain times throughout the year where the Lady of the House walks you through Thornewood Castle gorgeous corridors and rooms, including rarely seen tunnels and the basement! |
